Honey-Sweetened Hot Cocoa

honey sweetened hot cocoa

This time of year, I'm in constant need of a hot beverage. My sweet tooth often leads me to the sweet, dark nectar of hot cocoa. The problem is, the hot cocoa packets at the supermarket are filled with all sorts of preservatives, chemicals, and corn syrups. I figured, why not make it from scratch? So, I stumbled upon the perfect solution, Honey-Sweetened Hot Cocoa!

This hot cocoa recipe is a delicious dairy-free alternative to the popular powdered mixes at the supermarket. It calls for only 4 ingredients and takes just about 5 minutes to prepare. What I love about this recipe is that you can customize the chocolate flavor exactly to your liking. Want a dark chocolate drink? Add more cocoa powder or use less sweetener. Do you have a sweet tooth? Add more honey!

Serving Size: 1 cup

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon raw cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon Cloister Honey's Whipped Honey with Cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  •

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Combine all the ingredients into a saucepan over high heat, using a whisk to break up any clumps.
    2. Keep stirring until smooth and piping hot, then pour into a mug and serve warm.
    3. Top with whipped cream and shaved chocolate, if desired.
    4. Cozy up and enjoy!
